If you saw a Croton plant (Codiaeum variegatum) in its natural habitat of Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands, you might be surprised by its size and vibrant colors. In the wild, it can grow into a large shrub, but indoors, it typically reaches between 3 to 6 feet tall. Crotons are prized for their striking foliage, which comes in shades of red, yellow, orange, and green, with bold veining and unique patterns.
SIZE: Dimensions (including pot): Approx. 17" x 10" x 11" ; Pot width: 7". Pot style shown in picture
LIKES: Bright indirect sunlight but can tolerate some direct sun. Higher humidity levels and warmth help maintain its vivid leaf colors.
DISLIKES: Sudden temperature changes or cold drafts. Keep away from air conditioners and heaters. Also dislikes overly dry air, which can cause leaf drop.
HEALTH BENEFITS: Known to improve indoor air quality by filtering out toxins like formaldehyde, benzene, and other pollutants commonly found in household products.
WATERING AND FEEDING: Prefers consistently moist soil but doesn’t like to sit in water. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering again. Use a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring and summer).
LIVING WITH PETS AND CHILDREN: This plant is toxic if ingested, so it’s best to keep it out of reach of curious pets and small children.
